Italian Rock Project Uses English-Language Storytelling to Address Domestic Violence, Displacement and Recovery
United States, 19th Jun 2026 – Domestic violence is often discussed through legal, social or psychological frameworks, while its long-term impact on identity, displacement and recovery remains harder to communicate in public discourse.

An Italian rock project is now bringing that subject into an English-language narrative format, using music as a way to address the consequences of abuse beyond the moment of violence itself.
“Twisted Youth Freeway”, the new album by Siena-based band Psychos, distributed by Corallo Records for Lotus Music Production, focuses on the story of a young person forced to leave an unsafe family environment and rebuild a sense of identity after trauma, isolation and loss.
The project does not approach domestic violence as a single event, but as a condition that can reshape the perception of home, family, safety and the future. Through the album’s narrative structure, the central figure moves from abuse and forced escape toward survival, grief and the possibility of recovery.
The choice of English gives the project an international dimension, placing a story rooted in an Italian independent rock context within a broader conversation on domestic abuse, youth displacement and emotional recovery.
Led by Andy Romi, guitarist, songwriter, producer and vocalist, Psychos recorded and developed the project at Psychotic Studio. The band’s sound is rooted in hard rock and progressive rock, with references to classic seventies-inspired structures, but the main relevance of the release lies in its attempt to connect rock writing with a socially significant narrative.
The album is accompanied by the official video for “Where Do I Belong”, directed by Gina Merulla and performed by actors from the Teatro Hamlet company in Rome. The video focuses on the aftermath of loss and follows the protagonist’s attempt to understand where he belongs after the death of a close friend.
Psychos were formed in Siena in 2010 from an idea by Andy Romi. Over the years, the band has developed a path between hard rock, progressive rock and independent production, later expanding its work through Psychotic Studio. In 2024, the promotion of their previous album reached international music publications, including the British magazine PowerPlay.
With “Twisted Youth Freeway”, Psychos place a difficult social subject inside a rock narrative designed for an international audience, shifting attention from music as entertainment to music as a form of cultural and emotional testimony.
