Unity Communications Announces Four-Day Workweek Initiative for Select Departments
Unity Communications, a global leader in hybrid business process outsourcing (BPO), has introduced a flexible four-day workweek for select departments, aiming to enhance employee well-being and maintain exceptional client service.
United States, 18th Sep 2025 – Unity Communications has launched a four-day workweek for select departments. This reinforces the company’s commitment to supporting its people, staying agile, and building a future-ready workplace.

Beginning June 16, employees from Marketing and Communications (MarComm), Employee Success and Support (ESS), Service Delivery (SD), and other designated support functions whose roles do not require full five-day presence have transitioned to a compressed schedule of four 10-hour workdays, unlocking the benefit of a consistent three-day weekend.
Unity Communications HR and Admin Manager Jhoed Bermudez noted that this policy is part of the company’s strategic shift to support employee well-being while maintaining operational excellence. “By providing greater flexibility, we’re cultivating a work culture that is energized, focused, and purpose-driven,” Bermudez added.
Empowering Teams, Ensuring Client Excellence
Unlike a one-size-fits-all approach, Unity Communications implements the four-day workweek through a department-led rollout. Team leaders determine schedules based on role requirements and client needs.
Importantly, this transformation has been designed with client outcomes in mind. Service continuity, performance standards, and response time remain fully intact.
This shift aligns with the company’s broader strategy to create a more focused, motivated support team and deliver the high-quality service clients expect. It also fits naturally with Unity Communications’s hybrid work model, balancing remote and on-site work while maintaining the standard 40-hour workweek to meet the company’s changing needs.
Policy Shaped by Employee Insight
Unity Communications based its decision on employee feedback. In a company-wide survey, most chose Friday as their extra rest day, with Monday as a close second. That input shaped the new schedule and reflected our commitment to listening, adapting, and growing with our team.
“Listening to our team has always guided how we evolve,” said Bermudez, adding this transition is one more example of how the business process outsourcing (BPO) company turns feedback into meaningful action.
While the four-day workweek currently applies only to support teams, it sets the stage for bigger changes, aligning Unity Communications’s workplace design with its long-term growth and talent strategies.
Aligning with Global Trends in Workforce Innovation
Unity Communications joins a global movement rethinking traditional work structures. A recent Hays LinkedIn poll found that nearly 70% of professionals in Hong Kong support a four-day workweek. Similar sentiments are growing in China, Malaysia, Japan, and Singapore.

Hong Kong, China, Malaysia, Japan, Singapore, and the UK have joined or supported the four-day workweek movement.
Global pilot programs, including a major study in the UK, have shown that shorter workweeks can lead to fewer absences, lower turnover, and better productivity. Unity Communications is hopeful for similar results. But it will keep a close eye on how this change affects our people and the service we deliver to our clients.
“The goal is to promote better work-life balance, giving our people more time for personal priorities such as family, hobbies, or rest,” Bermudez added. It ultimately contributes to a highly motivated, focused, and energized workforce.
This change is part of Unity Communications’s larger effort to modernize the outsourcing experience. By empowering internal teams and investing in smarter work design, the BPO company enhances its ability to deliver agile, people-first solutions for clients navigating digital transformation and operational scaling.
Unity Communications invites partners and organizations exploring modern outsourcing models to engage in the conversation.
