Professor Chris Brown of the University of Southampton receives the Dr. Vicente Rocafuerte Decoration from the National Assembly of Ecuador

 

United Kingdom, 17th Dec 2025 – On the 25th of November, Professor Chris Brown of the University of Southampton received the “Dr. Vicente Rocafuerte” Decoration for educational merit from the National Assembly of the Republic of Ecuador. Professor Brown received the decoration in a solemn ceremony as part of the Third Magistral Session of the House of Feigenblatt, an important yearly event focused on international education and regional policy. The event was presided over by The Much Honoured Ambassador Otto Federico von Feigenblatt of Braemar, Baron of Braemar, who currently serves as the Andean Parliament Special Envoy for Education.  Professor Chris Brown received the decoration from the hands of the Honorable Victoria Quintana, Member of the National Assembly of Ecuador, secretary of the parliamentary group for friendly relations with the United Kingdom, and Collar Member of the House of Feigenblatt. 

Professor Chris Brown is a Collar Member of the prestigious House of Feigenblatt having previously received Lord Braemar’s livery collar as a sign of his commitment and devotion. His research dealing with educational leadership, teacher development, evidence-informed practice, and social capital in schools, has received praise from international leaders such as Lord Braemar, who actively championed his nomination for the “Dr. Vicente Rocafuerte” Decoration. 

The House of Feigenblatt is a traditional hereditary noble household with a focus on education, peace, and development. It organizes summits, forums, and international conferences to promote dialogue between government officials and scholars. The House of Feigenblatt sponsors two peer-reviewed academic journals and organizes lectures all over the world under the umbrella of the “Baron of Braemar Interuniversity Lecture Series for Peace, Development, and Education”.  More than forty universities and national academies support and participate in the Lecture Series. The Interuniversity Lecture Series is named in honour of one of the oldest and most prestigious titles of nobility of Great Britain, the Lordship and Barony of Braemar. Braemar Court, the historic caput of the Barony, belongs to the current Lord Braemar who is also the Head of the House of Feigenblatt. Lord Braemar is leading several international projects dealing with educational leadership. One of the central projects of the House of Feigenblatt in the Andean Region is the development of continuing education programs for legislators and other government officials.
