New Chamber, New Capital: Why ICOCMN Is One to Watch in 2025

Minnesota’s economic landscape just gained a powerful new player – and it launched with a bang. The India Chamber of Commerce Minnesota (ICOCMN) officially opened its doors last week with a phenomenal kickoff event that drew hundreds of entrepreneurs, business leaders, policymakers, and community stakeholders from across the state. The reception was electric, the vision bold, and the momentum undeniable.

In a time when economic partnerships and cross-cultural business connections have never been more crucial, ICOCMN arrives at precisely the right moment. The March 27th launch event – which brought together over 80 business leaders, state representatives, senators, the Deputy Secretary of State, and DEED officials—signaled something important: Minnesota is ready for this new chamber.

“The overwhelming turnout and energy confirmed one thing – Minnesota is ready for a bold new chamber that delivers real results,” said Shajive Jeganathan, President and Founding Member of ICOCMN, a technology leader with a track record of driving innovation and strategic growth.

At the heart of this launch is a dynamic founding team that brings together diverse expertise across multiple industries. Alongside Jeganathan stands Sirish Samba, President and CEO of Sambatek who also serves as Chairman of the Advisory Council; Mahi Mahipathi, CEO and Co-Founder of Vajraasys and member of the chamber’s advisory council; and Hasmukh Patel, President and CEO of US Dairy Foods Consulting who also serves as Treasurer of the board. Together, these leaders are building not just a chamber – but a movement.

The event featured Guest of Honor Danny Gaekwad, a distinguished entrepreneur and community leader whose journey from humble beginnings to national prominence captivated the audience. As the Founder and CEO of multiple successful ventures, including NDS USA Information Technology and Danny G Management, his entrepreneurial acumen has earned him numerous accolades. Notably, in 2016, Florida Governor Rick Scott awarded him the “One Million Jobs” certificate of appreciation for his role in helping Florida job creators add one million jobs between 2010 and 2015.  Additionally, Gaekwad has been recognized with the Asian American Hotel Owners Association Chairman’s Award, the Lion of the Year Award, and the Glorious India Chairman’s Award.  His presence at the event underscored the chamber’s mission to empower entrepreneurs, foster cross-sector partnerships, and unify Minnesota’s growing business community.

Economic Force Behind the Movement

The emergence of ICOCMN reflects a significant economic reality: immigrants from, especially from India contribute over $22 billion to Minnesota’s GDP and pay more than $1.2 billion in state and local taxes. Indian-owned businesses employ thousands of Minnesotans across healthcare, technology, retail, and real estate sectors. These contributions make the formation of a dedicated chamber not just timely but essential.

“By uniting entrepreneurs, professionals, and business leaders, ICOCMN creates a dynamic platform that not only supports individual business growth but also contributes to the broader economic prosperity of Minnesota,” Jeganathan explains.

What distinguishes ICOCMN from traditional chambers is its innovative approach to community engagement and economic development. The organization offers tailored workshops, networking events, and co-branding opportunities, alongside advocacy at all levels of government. Educational resources such as mentorship programs and scholarships ensure members have the tools needed to excel in today’s competitive marketplace.

Innovation Hub in the Making

Perhaps most exciting among ICOCMN’s upcoming initiatives is the ICOCMN Investory Pitch Night, a Shark Tank style event launching in June in partnership with BetaMN, one of Minnesota’s leading startup accelerators. This program will provide entrepreneurs a platform to pitch business ideas, gain visibility, secure funding, and receive mentorship from experienced investors and business leaders.

The initiative represents the chamber’s commitment to fostering innovation and creating pathways for emerging entrepreneurs—particularly important in a state where Indian Americans have already demonstrated remarkable success in launching and scaling businesses.

For entrepreneurs, business owners, and professionals seeking connection, resources, and opportunities, ICOCMN is positioning itself as an essential hub. The organization’s focus on both immediate business needs and long-term community development makes it particularly valuable for businesses at various stages of growth.

Building Bridges, Breaking Barriers

Beyond the business metrics, ICOCMN is focused on something equally important: building connections. In an increasingly fragmented business landscape, the chamber aims to serve as a bridge between cultures, industries, and opportunity.

The organization’s founders envision ICOCMN as more than just an advocacy group—they see it as a catalyst for economic integration and shared prosperity. By bringing together diverse business interests under one umbrella, the chamber hopes to amplify the collective voice of Indian American businesses while strengthening Minnesota’s broader economic ecosystem.

As 2025 unfolds, the India Chamber of Commerce Minnesota is poised to become a significant force in shaping the state’s economic future. With its combination of visionary leadership, practical resources, and ambitious initiatives, ICOCMN isn’t just joining Minnesota’s business community – it’s transforming it.

In a state known for innovation and inclusion, this new chamber is writing the next chapter in Minnesota’s economic story—and it’s a narrative of opportunity, connection, and growth that benefits everyone.
