Felix Pantaleon The First Independent Yankees Content Creator Celebrates 20 Years of NYYNEWS
United States, 28th Jun 2025 – In an era where sports content creators dominate the digital landscape, Felix Pantaleon stands as a pioneer. This October marks the 20th Anniversary of NYYNEWS, the groundbreaking fan-powered platform Pantaleon founded in 2005 at just 20 years old—forever changing how New York Yankees news is covered online.
Born and raised in Manhattan and of Dominican-American descent, Felix Pantaleon combined his self-taught skills in web design and coding—learned through early social media platforms like Mp3.com, Migente.com, and Myspace.com—to build what would become the first independent Yankees content hub on the internet.
“I was frustrated by how the mainstream media covered the Yankees,” said Pantaleon. “After their 2005 playoff exit, I knew it was time for a new voice—a fan’s voice. That’s how NYYNEWS was born.”
To his surprise, the domain NYYNEWS.com was available—and he grabbed it on the spot. Almost instantly, the site began pulling in 5,000 unique daily visitors, thanks to its fresh voice and a then-unheard-of direct-to-fan approach. At the time, most fans were confined to forums or scattered blogs. NYYNEWS was something entirely new: a centralized hub for bold, independent Yankees coverage. Custom made and designed by Pantaleon himself.
In 2006, Pantaleon brought on a then-unknown writer named Pete Simonetti, who would go on to become the face of The Simonetti Source NYY UNDERGROUND and co-launch NYYNEWS-TV in 2022—cementing NYYNEWS as a content-creating powerhouse with deep roots.
Two decades later, Felix and Pete continue to produce content through multiple successful YouTube channels & websites, always focused on their shared love: The New York Yankees.
“Having NYYNEWS be the first and original platform that influenced so many others—now 20 years strong—is the best feeling in the world,” said Pantaleon. “These platforms are now helping Major League Baseball grow. I’m proof that if you have an idea, make it happen and stick with it.”
Today, the term “content creator” is ubiquitous. But back in 2005, Felix Pantaleon helped define the genre, not just for Yankees fans, but for the entire sports content landscape.
