Vicinity Safety Vietnam Announces Registration as R and D Firm for Next Gen Fire Safety Research

Vicinity Safety Vietnam announces its official registration as an R&D firm, focused on innovative, low-impact fire control solutions following success at the global SBC Challenge.

Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, 14th Nov 2025 – Vicinity Safety Vietnam, a newly established technology company, has officially registered as a corporate entity, following its award-winning performance at the global Social Business Creation (SBC) Challenge, organized by HEC Montréal. Founded by Karina Nguyen in 2024, the company is focused on research and development (R&D) in fire safety, and is currently operating in incubation mode with a lean business model aimed at validating a novel fire control approach.

Strategic Business Registration and Incubation Phase

The transition from academic success to formal registration marks a critical milestone for Vicinity Safety, reinforcing its dedication to turning groundbreaking ideas into practical, sustainable solutions.

“Registering Vicinity Safety Vietnam demonstrates a serious, long-term investment in this project,” said Karina Nguyen, founder of the company. “Our current focus is on R&D and validating the potential of our concept. This incubation phase, with a low-cost, lean structure, is a strategic decision to allocate resources efficiently as we prove the practicality of our approach before scaling.”

As a company grounded in social enterprise values, Vicinity Safety is committed to developing fire safety technologies that prioritize sustainability and low environmental impact, as exemplified during their participation in the SBC Challenge.

R&D Focus: The Potential of VFEP Technology

At the heart of Vicinity Safety’s efforts is the development of the Vacuum Fire Extinguishment Projectile (VFEP), a pioneering fire control concept aimed at addressing the collateral damage caused by traditional fire suppression methods. The company is focusing on fire control solutions for environments where precision is critical, such as electronics infrastructure and sensitive microgravity scenarios.

The R&D team is working on two primary principles for revolutionizing fire control:

  1. Chemical Mitigation
Traditional fire suppression methods, such as water or foam, often cause corrosion and damage to sensitive electronic equipment. Vicinity Safety is exploring alternative fire control agents that will minimize these risks, thereby extending the lifespan of valuable equipment.

  2. Low-Impact Delivery
In an effort to reduce the physical damage caused by fire suppression methods, the company is investigating the use of low-mass projectiles to control fires with minimal kinetic force. Drawing inspiration from Newton’s second law of motion, Vicinity Safety hypothesizes that a small, lightweight projectile could effectively manage fires without the destructive force typical of larger, military-style projectiles. This approach is aimed at reducing impact damage to sensitive environments, especially in critical areas such as electronics and microgravity systems.

The company believes that the VFEP technology has the potential to become a future standard in fire safety, offering an environmentally friendly and effective solution to traditional fire control methods.

Outlook and Next Steps

Vicinity Safety will remain in its R&D-intensive incubation phase for the foreseeable future, focusing on refining and validating the VFEP concept. The company’s immediate goal is to complete the validation process and secure intellectual property rights for their technology.

Looking ahead, Vicinity Safety plans to expand into the international market, with an eye on licensing commercialization and investment opportunities in Singapore. This move will allow the company to scale its innovative fire safety solutions globally, positioning itself as a leader in next-generation fire suppression technologies.
