International Sonic Healing Association ISHA Officially Launched to Explore Global Trends in Sound and Health

Thailand, 15th Sep 2025 – The International Sonic Healing Association (ISHA) has officially been launched in Chiang Mai, Thailand, marking a significant step in advancing the global dialogue on the role of sound and rhythm in human health and well-being. Established as a non-profit international platform, ISHA is dedicated to creating education, certification, and research systems that bridge electronic music, sound healing, and holistic wellness practices.
Across the world, sound healing is gaining recognition as people increasingly seek natural, non-pharmaceutical approaches to stress reduction and mental balance. Electronic music, long celebrated for its creativity and cultural influence, is now being applied in mindfulness, meditation, and group resonance experiences. ISHA introduces an innovative framework known as “Sonic Zen,” a practice that combines brainwave entrainment, mindful listening, free-form movement, and dynamic meditation to demonstrate how music and rhythm can support both individual and collective well-being.
The association’s mission is to establish a credible, internationally recognized framework for sound-based healing that can be embraced by practitioners and institutions alike. Its work will focus on building global networks, advancing academic and cultural exchange, and creating training pathways that set professional standards in this evolving field. Through international forums, research collaborations, and cross-disciplinary partnerships, ISHA aims to unite science, art, and wellness under a shared vision of healing through sound.
The launch of ISHA reflects the vision of Professor Sakya Lee, a former Top 100 DJ and acclaimed music producer from China who spent more than a decade performing on stages across Asia. After relocating to Chiang Mai, Lee shifted his focus toward the transformative power of sound and developed the “Sonic Zen” methodology that now serves as the
foundation of the association. “Electronic music is not only entertainment; it can also serve as a language of healing,” Lee explained. “Through ISHA, we want to create a global platform where sound and rhythm become shared resources for health, human connection, and cultural transformation.”
Though headquartered in Chiang Mai, ISHA has a distinctly international outlook. The association is laying the groundwork for expansion into China, Europe, and North America within the next three years, supported by an advisory board of experts in music therapy, psychology, sound art, and cultural research. This international presence will enable ISHA to shape the future of sound healing on a global scale while promoting cross-cultural understanding and collaboration.
The International Sonic Healing Association represents a timely response to the growing demand for holistic approaches to wellness and the recognition of sound as a powerful medium for healing. By integrating music, science, and spirituality, ISHA seeks to transform the way communities worldwide understand and use sound—not just as art or entertainment, but as a universal resource for health and human connection.
