South Surrey Native Hayden Rivas Builds a Global Multi-Faceted Career With Legal and Creative Expertise
Canada, 20th Jun 2025 – Hayden Rivas, a multidisciplinary performing artist with credits across stage and screen, is gaining recognition for bridging creative and legal disciplines in the entertainment industry. Holding a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from USC’s Glorya Kaufman School of Dance and a Master of Studies in Law from USC Gould School of Law, this South Surrey native combines artistic training with a solid foundation in media law and business strategy.

Rivas is currently featured in “Beetlejuice” aboard Norwegian Cruise Line, a full-scale theatrical production choreographed by Connor Gallagher and directed by Broadway Associate Catie Davis. The show offers international audiences a faithful adaptation of the hit musical, bringing acclaimed theatrical work to audiences worldwide.
Beyond “Beetlejuice,” Rivas has appeared on major television and film productions including Disney’s “Descendants 3”, NBC’s “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist”, and “So You Think You Can Dance”. On stage, he has performed in regional theater productions such as Frozen at North Shore Music Theater, where he also understudied and performed the role of King Agnarr. At Surflight Theatre, he joined the cast of “Miracle on 34th Street” as both ensemble and Climber. Moreover, Rivas has participated in new musical workshops at the prestigious Jacob’s Pillow, contributing to the development of emerging works.
Rivas’ journey, from South Surrey to New York and beyond, highlights a growing cohort of internationally trained artists forging success across borders. By combining performance with legal expertise, he brings a thoughtful, business-savvy approach to his career, one that resonates with a rapidly changing industry seeking more inclusive, multidimensional voices.

“I see my career as a bridge between disciplines,” said Rivas. “Having a background in both performance and legal studies helps me approach each opportunity with a broader perspective and stronger sense of direction.”
In addition to performing, Rivas has contributed to the industry as a dance competition judge and pre-professional instructor. As a judge for EncoreDCS dance competition and a faculty member at Francisco Gella’s pre-professional institute, he remains actively engaged in mentoring the next generation of performers.
