Riding Into the Forbidden Kingdom

Upper Mustang, sealed from the outside world until 1992, remains one of Asia’s last great frontiers. Nestled on Nepal’s northern border with Tibet, this high-altitude desert kingdom is home to towering clay cliffs, ancient cave monasteries, medieval walled villages, and the legendary city of Lo Manthang. Only a limited number of visitors are granted access each year through a restricted-area permit, making this expedition a genuinely rare opportunity.

The expedition is priced from $1,999 per rider, which includes restricted-area permits, accommodation, meals, full guide support, a backup vehicle, and a choice of motorcycle from Nepal Moto Tours’ premium fleet, including the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, Royal Enfield Himalayan 410, and Scram 411. Group sizes are kept intentionally small to preserve the authenticity of the experience and ensure every rider receives personal attention on the road.

From Computer Engineer to Himalayan Guide

Behind Nepal Moto Tours is Prabhash, a computer engineer who traded lines of code for mountain roads. A lifelong rider and traveller, Prabhash spent over a decade exploring Nepal’s terrain from the flat Terai plains to the high Himalayan passes before founding Nepal Moto Tours in 2022 alongside his wife. He has also ridden extensively across India and Thailand, bringing a broader perspective to his work as a guide.
