American scientists have a very short-lived, golden opportunity to lead a global scientific revolution
If United States scientists fail to utilize this once in a blue moon opportunity to revolutionize science; then Europe will lead another scientific revolution, followed by a total paradigm shift in science.

Trivandrum, Kerala, India, 29th Apr 2026 – US led James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) observations and Dark Energy Survey (DESI) finding are truly earth-shattering. Those findings deeply question the current understanding of the universe, Einstein’s SpaceTime concept, and of reality itself! The biggest mistake one might make is to think that these findings will affect only cosmology, and human knowledge of the universe. Actually, these discoveries are about the workings of the universe (Physics) as well, and explain the origin and true nature of time itself! It explains the internal symmetries of particle physics (the tiniest things imaginable!). Enormous amount of evidences are emerging recently which shows that the tiniest and the largest in the universe are tightly linked. Those impossible discoveries from JWST and DESI have the potential to revolutionize science, and lead to a total paradigm shift in science. They have offered a golden opportunity to United States.
The Dark Energy Survey has officially created largest-ever 3D map of the universe, which shows 47 million galaxies. On April 14, 2026 scientists completed the primary mission of the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) ahead of schedule. This staggering dataset represents a six fold increase over all previous galactic measurements combined.
Only a plot of number of galaxies versus distance is needed to turn science on its head. More details are provided later. Scientists are wrong about the shape, size and workings of the universe, which is responsible for the present crisis in physics and cosmology. BBC News, The New York Times, The Guardian, Forbes, et al have repeatedly raised alarm over the crisis in both physics and cosmology. The correct model for the universe is the “expanding balloon model”. A scientific revolution is imminent.
US scientists must postpone computation intensive tasks with Dark Energy Survey data on 47 million galaxies and focus on this much simpler (and yet profoundly more important) task of finding the number of galaxies versus distance immediately. Tasks like simulating artificial universes and trying to match with actual data for discrepancy etc. might take years to complete. On the other hand, the other simple task might be completed in weeks or perhaps within just a few days. US is fortunate to have so many of the world’s most powerful supercomputers for this job. After all, the enormous amount of (more than 5 years of) painstaking efforts in creating the largest 3D map of the universe will be meaningful only if it can answer the most basic question: “How are the galaxies distributed over the distance?” Only a graph/plot of number of galaxies versus distance is needed. That can spark a scientific revolution from United States.
However, the window of opportunity for United States will close very soon and Europe will gain an upper hand with Euclid Telescope data. Euclid telescope is expected to map around 1.5 to 2 billion galaxies, covering about one-third of the entire sky. Euclid began its routine science observations and cosmological survey on 14 February 2024. European Space Agency’s Euclid Telescope will publicly release its Data (DR1) on 21st October, 2026.
ALL THREE CONDITIONS FOR A SCIENTIFIC REVOLUTION ARE SATISFIED. It is ‘now or never’ moment for American scientists. If American scientists fail to utilize this golden opportunity to lead a global scientific revolution, then Europe certainly will. American taxpayers will NOT be happy to find their $10 billion (Yes, ten billion US dollars), James Webb telescope being triumphed over by a $1 billion European telescope.
Even when the partial data from Dark Energy Survey was released two years back, DESI found tantalizing evidence that dark energy is weakening. If the final data confirms this, scientists will have to completely rewrite the standard model of cosmology.
The implications of weakening Dark Energy are immense. Eric Linder, a physicist and cosmologist at the University of California, Berkeley has suggested that it has the possibilities for changing a lot of physics. It might be telling that scientists are profoundly wrong about the deepest structure of space-time. Something is incorrect at the deepest foundational level, and not just superficially. The following two paragraphs (in italics) are meant for scientists and experts. Non-scientific readers may skip them.
NOTE: The Rh = ct model of the universe (a cosmological model proposed by Professor Fulvio Melia) does predict that dark energy must be weakening over time to maintain a constant, linear expansion rate of the universe. This sharply contrasts with the accepted standard model of the universe where dark energy (as a cosmological constant) remains constant.
The expanding balloon model of the universe is a special case of the Rh = ct model of the universe. However, it is more refined and accurate. Besides it is firmly based on a deeper understanding of SpaceTime concept (and consequently a truer understanding of Einstein’s relativity itself). Please Google search these for more information:

The Dark Energy Survey and DESI data can be used for much more worthy and newsworthy purposes than was intended. It can end the mystery of the shape and size of the universe, once and for all. That can answer whether the two mutually contradictory pillars of physics can be reconciled, leading to a ‘theory of everything’, unifying entire physics and cosmology. The data of 47 million galaxies will show that the universe is not 3D flat, but positively curved. But, how? The following paragraph (in italics) answers this question, and is meant for scientists and experts. Non-scientific readers may ignore it and jump to next paragraph.
A circle drawn on a curved surface (of a sphere) has a shorter circumference compared to a circle of the same radius drawn on a flat surface. For example, a dome-shaped orange peel has a shorter edge than a flat pancake of the same size. The same phenomenon happens in one higher dimension. The equivalent of a circle in 3D is a sphere, and the equivalent of its circumference is the sphere’s spherical surface. The available data on 47 million galaxies is up to 11 billion light-years (b.l.y.) away. A sphere of 11 b.l.y. radius can be partitioned into spherical bands (say 7-8 b.l.y., 8-9 b.l.y. etc.) The number of galaxies falling in each band can be counted. The predictions of curved, balloon model of the universe differ from the flat model of currently accepted Standard Model of Cosmology (which predicts the number of galaxies to be proportional to the square of radius). The balloon model predicts the number to deviate (become lesser) from Standard Model of Cosmology prediction with increasing radius. This crucial prediction is based on a hallowed/sacrosanct principle that the distribution of galaxies on a large enough scale of the universe is uniform. Kindly note that a 3D map of the entire sky is NOT REQUIRED for this purpose. Even large-angled conical sections will do the job.
James Webb Space telescope (JWST) has repeatedly made international headline news with its impossible findings. It has shaken the foundations of cosmology, and entire science. JWST has discovered that MoM z14 galaxy existed when the universe was just 280 million years old (i.e. when the universe was really in infant stage). The measured emission lines from this galaxy indicated overabundance of elements like nitrogen and carbon, and even oxygen! This was utterly shocking because there is not a single theoretical model that predicts this much nitrogen this early on (which would require the birth and death of several generations of stars). JWST has been pushing the limit further and further. Recently it discovered the Capotauro galaxy, which appeared just 90 million years after the Big Bang. These findings are not just overstretching the presently accepted model of the universe, but breaking it. James Webb Telescope’s impossible findings disagree with accepted model of universe but strongly favor ‘expanding balloon’ model of universe. The details won’t be repeated here. The (currently accepted) Standard Model of Cosmology is wrong, which has created a crisis in Physics and Cosmology and necessitates a scientific revolution. Einstein discovered that space and time cannot be separated, and both of them inevitably mix together. He reached the shocking conclusion that time is the fourth dimension. However, Time itself is NOT the fourth dimension; time emerges due to motion along fourth space dimension. This is a natural consequence of the expansion of the (hyper) balloon universe in the 4D (hyper) space. This balloon model gives the correct value of the Hubble constant, whereas the (currently accepted) Standard Model of Cosmology cannot explain why this particular value of Hubble constant arises.
The expanding balloon model of universe is far superior to currently accepted theories in Physics and Cosmology. The lists of achievements are simply stunning and staggering! It explains the origin of internal symmetries [the U (1), SU (2) and SU (3) symmetries] which underlie the Standard Model of particle physics. It explains the origin of crucial conservation laws of physics (which via the Noether’s theorem requires particular symmetries). It explains the reason behind ever increasing entropy (2nd law of thermodynamics). It even explains the ‘Principle of Least Action’, from which all known laws of physics can be derived. The ‘Principle of Least Action’ turns into a shockingly simple statement: “The least distance between two points in 4D hyperspace is a straight line”. This statement makes it clear that the Euclidean geometry of 4D space is primary, whereas the role of kinetic and potential energies is only secondary. Honestly (and objectively), no other theory in science comes even remotely close to the expanding balloon universe model in its explanatory and predictive powers.
It will be shameful if America loses to Europe in this scientific race. After all, America’s National Laboratories have at least 75 breakthroughs to showcase. United States has long been leading the world in science and technology. Almost routinely, US news media have boasted that United States remains the dominant leader in science and technology worldwide. Here is a shocking revelation: The United States accounted for 40 percent of the total world’s spending on scientific research and development, employed 70 percent of the world’s Nobel Prize winners and is home to three-quarters of the world’s top 40 universities.
What is equally noteworthy is the American public’s attitude towards science. Pew research center found that Americans prioritize being a world leader in scientific achievements more than other global publics. Nearly seven-in-ten Americans (69%) think it is very important for the United States to be a world leader in scientific achievements. The U.S. stands out, along with Spain, for the high share of its citizens to hold this view.
If American scientific communities do not seize the opportunity to turn science upside down, then Europe will win the race, and Europe will be the leader of another scientific revolution. American public must never forget that Science Is What Made America Great. Squandering away the NUMERO UNO position is easy; but regaining it back is not easy. Therefore, every patriotic American (regardless of social stature) must regard this as a call to action. American scientists might need more than a gentle nudge from the American public and the funding agencies to expedite processing the five years of DESI data in order to bring everlasting glory to their nation and usher in a tsunami-sized ‘scientific revolution’.
Summary: American citizens must convince the US scientists to process the data of the 47 million galaxies with utmost urgency (before Euclid telescope steals the limelight). Rather than going via the artificial universe simulation route, they must plot a graph of number of galaxies versus distance (for any given solid angle of a conical section of the sky). That is sufficient to start a scientific revolution from American soil. The original scientific revolution in Europe led to several centuries of Europe’s global domination. It is responsibility of the American citizen’s to bring their scientists on track by any means possible. Long live America! God bless America!
