She began her career in 2003 and has taught second grade, fourth grade, and middle school math, along with serving as a math coach. Since 2012, she has focused on middle school mathematics, working with both general and special education students in diverse classroom settings.

Denise holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in childhood studies from Rutgers University. Her work emphasizes building strong number sense and helping students develop confidence in math. Her book, Dusty Counts to Ten and Back Again, reflects her commitment to making foundational math concepts engaging and meaningful for young learners.
