GRIT Expands Global Network Empowering Research Communities Worldwide
GRIT is transforming global research by providing free mentorship, training, and publishing opportunities, empowering scholars in 50+ countries.
Kathmandu, Nepal, 6th Dec 2025 – The Global Research Institute and Training Center (GRIT), a dynamic and rapidly growing research and academic training institution based in Kathmandu, Nepal, is reshaping the global academic landscape with its innovative and inclusive approach to research support. Founded in 2023, GRIT is quickly becoming one of the largest and most influential international researcher networks, now spanning more than 50 countries. In a world where research support can often be expensive or difficult to access, GRIT is redefining what academic opportunity looks like for scholars across the globe.

Founded with a Vision for Global Academic Empowerment
GRIT was established with the core vision of connecting researchers from the Global South to global academic networks. By fostering an environment where research, knowledge, and opportunities are universally accessible, GRIT is breaking down the barriers that often hinder academic progress. As the first and only institution offering free, one-on-one consultations with global experts, GRIT is democratizing high-quality research guidance, making it available to researchers regardless of their geographical location, financial limitations, or academic background.
A Vision for Global Academic Empowerment
At the heart of GRIT’s mission is the belief that research and academic development should never be confined by location or financial means. Through mentorship, online forums, and comprehensive training programs, offered at minimal or no cost, GRIT is creating a global research community where knowledge is shared freely across borders. The organization’s commitment to inclusivity is clear:
“Research should not have borders, and neither should the researchers. At GRIT, every academic, every learner, and every researcher is valued equally, regardless of their origins or resources,” said Dr. Ashish Khanal, CEO of GRIT.
Innovative Programs and Global Community Building
One of GRIT’s defining features is its daily one-on-one research appointments with international experts, available both online and in-person. These personalized sessions guide researchers through every step of the academic journey, from initial research design to data analysis and publication strategies. This hands-on support helps scholars refine their work and expand their academic potential.
GRIT hosts interactive research forums where scholars from around the world can exchange ideas, provide feedback, and collaborate on joint research papers and journal publications. These forums have fostered a dynamic and collaborative research culture, linking researchers across diverse disciplines and regions.
In addition, GRIT also conducts free monthly webinars and technical seminars, delivered either independently or in collaboration with its international chapters. Most sessions are conducted in English, while some are offered in local languages by expert researchers and chapter members, ensuring accessibility for diverse audiences worldwide.
Further strengthening its impact, GRIT has partnered with the Aspire Institute, another Nepal-based institution that provides free access to academic tools, online courses, and certifications. This partnership significantly enhances GRIT’s ability to offer unparalleled academic support on a global scale, ensuring that its members have access to the most current research tools and training materials.
A Rapidly Expanding Global Network
In just two years, GRIT has rapidly established itself as a key player in the global academic community. Its influence can be seen in the expansion of its chapters, which now span over 50 countries. This global network supports thousands of researchers and academics, ensuring access to essential academic resources. Through its chapters, GRIT organizes regional workshops, training sessions, and joint research initiatives tailored to local needs, making academic support accessible even in remote areas. So far, over 5,000 researchers have benefited from GRIT’s mentorship, training, and collaborative opportunities.
Additionally, GRIT publishes two peer-reviewed journals, the Journal of Sustainability and Environmental Management (JoSEM) and the Journal of Multidisciplinary Research Advancements (JoMRA), that showcase high-impact, original research across multiple disciplines, including environmental science, social sciences, and interdisciplinary studies.
GRIT also organizes the Global Research on Innovation & Transformation in Environment (GRIT Conference), a free international conference focused on environmental sustainability. Held every September, the conference attracts researchers from over 40 countries, offering opportunities for presentations, networking, and publication.
Dr. Ashish Khanal’s Leadership and Global Influence
Under the leadership of Dr. Ashish Khanal, a 35-year youth expert, GRIT has achieved extraordinary milestones. Dr. Khanal’s vision for the institute stems from his deep personal commitment to sustainable development and academic empowerment. His own academic struggles, ranging from financial difficulties to isolation during his PhD journey, shaped his understanding of the barriers researchers face. These experiences inspired him to establish GRIT, ensuring no researcher has to face those challenges alone.
“As the first institution to provide comprehensive, free academic support on a global scale, GRIT is making research accessible, inclusive, and genuinely international. We focus on people, not profit, and our mission is to help every researcher grow, regardless of their background or financial situation,” Dr. Khanal explained.
Dr. Khanal’s expertise in solid waste management and the circular economy has significantly influenced GRIT’s approach to environmental sustainability. His leadership has been a driving force behind the institute’s rapid growth and its unwavering commitment to fostering international research collaboration.
A Bright Future for GRIT and Global Research
With its innovative model and rapid expansion, GRIT is poised to continue its transformative impact on the global academic landscape. The institute’s dedication to providing free, high-quality research support, fostering international collaboration, and empowering researchers from underserved regions is laying the groundwork for a more inclusive global research community. GRIT’s initiatives have already reached researchers from every region of the world, positioning it as one of the most accessible academic platforms of today.

As GRIT continues to expand its influence, it remains focused on ensuring that academic opportunities are not confined by boundaries. With plans to open new global chapters and forge additional international partnerships, GRIT is well-positioned to shape the future of research accessibility.
